About the event

Join us at The Little Green Bookshop for a very special evening with Helen O’Hara, best known as the violinist with Dexys Midnight Runners during their iconic Too-Rye-Ay era and the worldwide success of ‘Come On Eileen’.

Helen’s memoir, What’s She Like: A Violinist’s Tale, tells the remarkable story of a classically trained young violinist who turned down a place in a symphony orchestra to join Dexys — just weeks before ‘Come On Eileen’ reached number one. It follows the exhilaration of the band’s success, the turbulent making of Don’t Stand Me Down, her later collaborations with artists including Tanita Tikaram, and the 23-year break from music that followed.

Come along to hear Helen talk about an extraordinary life in music, the stories behind the memoir and what happened after the first edition.
